IPL Tenpin Bowling 2010 Ends in Islamabad.

Pakistan’s first ever premier bowling league Islamabad Premier League (IPL) Tenpin Bowling 2010 ended in Islamabad yesterday. In their second set of 20 games each player demonstrated a tough competition for top three positions. In this league final eight bowlers have played a total of 40 games in sixteen days.

On the last day the final positions according to the scores are as follow, Saleem Baig: 7340, Ijaz Ur Rehman 7245, Zafar Iqbal: 6947, Aftab: 6930, Alishah: 6807, Khalid Butt: 6582,  while Saqib finished on eighth position with 6537 points, Saleem Baig also grabbed the award for highest scorer in the event with a score of 246 in a single game.

In a statement Pakistan Tenpin Bowling Federation stated that the experiment of league bowling proved to be very successful and keeping in view the interest of the bowlers it has been decided that this league shall continue on regular basis while the success of this league has also prompted an example for other cities to follow the pattern of Islamabad Bowling Association for organizing this sort of leagues which could prove very beneficial for the growth and promotion of tenpin bowling in the country.

Event Report
2nd Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Shaheed Tenpin Bowling Championship 2010 Begins in Islamabad.

Memories of Great People live for ever, their death makes them immortal and so is the case with our beloved leader Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto, Pakistan Tenpin Bowling Federation in order to mark the services and contributions of our ex prime minister organized the 2nd Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Tenpin Bowling Championship 2010 from 20th July 2010 to 25th July 2010 in Islamabad.
The opening ceremony was simple and graceful, President PTBF Muhammad Shuja Khan along with the Chief guest Mr. Syed Aqil Shah Minister for Sport Government of Khyber Pakhtonkhwa entered the bowling arena where a huge number of bowlers and sport lovers welcomed them in a traditional way. Speaking on the occasion the chief guest said that in Tenpin Bowling Pakistan shall see new talent and Government was committed to provide healthy sports facilities to the youth.
The opening ceremony started with the recitation from Holy Quran which was followed by formal introduction of the chief guest with the PTBF officials and players. Children from Islamabad’s schools presented National Anthem while a poetic tribute was presented to the life and times of Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto shaheed by a well coordinated orchestra. Present on the occasion President PTBF Mr. Muhammad Shuja Khan, Minister for Food, Khyber Pakhtonkhwa Province welcomed the chief guest in his address and stated that he shall strive hard for the promotion of this sport in Pakistan. General Secretary PTBF Mr. Ijaz ur Rehman briefed the audience about problems and expectation of PTBF and he anticipated that tenpin bowling would be given a due status in country with government’s support and patronage.
Interest in this event grew further as it carried huge cash prizes, keeping alive the custom of the previous events of PTBF this event also accommodated the event for Deaf Bowlers while this year the categories of women deaf bowlers, Female Ameature, Inter Media, Inter Travel Agency and inter Telecommunication were also introduced which proved to generate an extensive interest in the sport beside the regular categories of Open Singles, Inter City and Doubles Events. On the first day the events for Inter media, Inter Travel Agencies, inter Telecommunication took place in which renown telecom and travel companies of islamabad participated.
Oath taking ceremony for Pakistan Deaf bowling association was also a brief part of the first day, chief guest administered the oath to the newly elected sports council of deaf bowlers. It may be underlined that people of all ages flogged the bowling center to watch the matches of various categories showing full interest in the sport of tenpin bowling.
Day Two of the championship accommodated the matches of men’s and women’s deaf bowlers who showed extra ordinary talent and skill, deaf bowlers from Karachi, Multan, Lahore and Islamabad competed for top two positions, Islamabad’s usman narrowly beat Lahore's Zeeshan while Irum Jehan of Karachi secured first position in women's event. Orbit aviation of Islamabad beat Bukhari travels to secure top slot in Inter travel agency category while Ayaz Akbar of Avt Khyber secured top slot in Inter Media competition. The event of Inter Telecommunication was won by Nexcom Communication of Islamabad.
The opening round of Open singles started on 22nd July 2010 in which the entire tenpin bowling community participated to demonstrate their skill. Each bowler had to play a set of five games upon whose total the second rounds qualifications were determined. Ijaz Ur Rehman thrilled the audience and tenpin bowling players by scoring eight consecutive strikes in his second game of the opening five games set by scoring a huge 242, his total score in five games made him to lead Islamabad bowlers with 1027 points finishing with an average of 205 points which so far is the highest by any player in the open singles event matches during this event. M.H. Chatha stands on second with an average of 178 points while Saleem Baig and Alishah of Islamabad shared third place with 176 points.
On the whole a total of 34 Islamabad players participated to complete their matches for the open singles round while the players from Karachi, Multan and Lahore began their journey on 23rd July by playing their first set of five games in the open singles round, the position of open singles round was clear and top 26 players made their way to the second round. Ejaz, Aleem Agha and Lashkar grabbed top three positions in first round and from there on wards to qualify along with 24 others to the second round. Te second round witnessed interesting competitions in which 16 players made their way to third round where top 10 had to qualify for the final round.
Contest for Intercity witnessed the play of four cities i.e. Karachi, Multan, Lahore and Islamabad. Surprisingly veteran Islamabad bowlers Mr. Chatha and Sajid preferred to play from Multan however their team came on fourth while Lahore finished third. Interesting match was seen in between Islamabad and Karachi teams, Islamabad’s team introduced young blood and by and large it was a good decision. Saqib and Afzal proved their selection right and supported the seniors Ijaz, Saleem Baig and Zafar through their breezy performance, Saleem Baigs 223 and Ijaz’s 204 helped Islamabad to beat Karachi in a comfort. Karachi having an edge of seniors like Aleem Agha, Shabbir lashkar and Usman ghani could not face the Islamabad challenge which gave Islamabad the title for the intercity event.
In the Doubles category a total of 20 teams grouped out of which top three teams qualified for the finals, in the final round the team of Mehmood and Naseem competed with Ijaz and Saleem, while Rashid and Ali shah’s team was the third one to lay the final. The team of Mehmood and Naseem surpassed rest of two teams to grab the winner’s title for this category.
The finals for open singles were played amid a huge crowd that gathered in the bowling alley, in the presence of media teams, VIPs and family members the bowlers did feel a nerve while playing for the title, surprisingly most favorites like Ijaz, saleem Baig and Aleem Agha could not make the way to the last ten collapsing in the top 16 round. Ahmed Shekhani, Naeem Shekhani, Shabbir Lashkar, Rashid, Zafar and Naseem were among the Lucky's bowlers who were the part of top 10 finalists.
Malik Mushtaq Awan, Ex Senior Minister PPP and Ex President PPP Punjab was the chief guest while Mr. Liaqat Shabab and Mr. Humayun Khan Ministers of Khyber Pakhtonkhwa were also present. Mr. Tanveer Ashraf Kaira MPA from PPP for Punjab Assembly also made his presence in this event while Mr. Kamran MNA of PPP visited the ceremony for a brief period.
President PTBF Mr. Muhammad Shuja Khan welcomed the guests while the speech of Mr. Ijaz ur Rehman was a very brief and crisp.
Naseem from Karachi had no pressure of playing his first ever final of a national grand slam demonstrated a game that made him win the championship. He secured the first rize of Rs. 100,000/- cash along with a trophy while Ahmed Shekhani finished Second to grab a smart cash of Rs. 50,000/- plus trophy and Mr. Shabbir Lashkar came third to win a cash prize of Rs. 25,000/- Zafar made the only representation of Islamabad in top five by finishing fourth and Naeem again from Karachi got fifth slot.
The event ended with a colourful musical gala followed by a lavish dinner. Players, general guests, media and chief guests enjoyed the musical evening in which the bowlers filled all the colours by their state of art performances in singing.

First Round of Open Singles completed in 2nd Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Shaheed Tenpin Bowling Championship 2010.

ISLAMABAD-The first round of Open Singles category in 2nd Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Shaheed Tenpin Bowling Championship 2010 completed  in Islamabad. A total of 52  players participated in the opening round of this category out of which top 26 players have qualified for the next round.  Interesting matches were seen in this round in which the players from Karachi, Multan and Lahore played their games. According to the final results of this round Ijaz Ur Rehman maintained his un beatable lead and remaind on top in the first round while M. Aleem Agha and Shabbir Lashkar from Karachi demonstrated professional game to finish second and third in the first round..

President Pakistan Tenpin Bowling Federation Mr. Muhammad Shuja Khan, Minister for Food Khyber Pakhtonkhwa Province, also witnessed this round and issued certificates of participation among the players.

The matches for Intercity and Doubles event are also expected to capture general interest as players from Karachi are all set to give a good fight back to Islamabad.

The intercity event and doubles event shall start on Saturday which is expected to remain the evntful day for this championship. The closing ceremony and prize distribution is expected to takle place on Sunday.

2nd Mohtarma Benazir bhutto shaheed tenpin bowling Championship 2nd day score.

ISLAMABAD-Usman Khan claimed the Men’s Deaf title of ongoing 2nd Benazir Bhutto Shaheed National Bowling Championship 2010 by scoring 176 points here at F-9 Park Bowling Alley on Wednesday late night.

  He displayed excellent skill of the game and earned four strikes during his 10 attempts. Zeeshan Ahmed remained second with 151 points. Iram Jehan from Karachi scored top position in the Women’s Deaf event with 117 points followed by Allyia with 110 points.

  Meanwhile, in the Media Event, Ayaz Akbar won the title with 132 points, as he hit five strikes during his maximum 10 attempts. He proved too good for other challengers Naseeb Elahi (110), Raisat Ali (103) and Afzal Javad (100), who remained second, third and fourth respectively.

  At the end, secretary, Pakistan Tenpin Bowling Federation (PTBF) Ijaz-ur-Rehman congratulated the winners and said that PTBF would organise the such type of events in future, as the youth are keen to take part in the bowling event.

Pakistan green fluttering will be waving among the other 69 nations of the world when green shirts will be featuring in the World Bowling Championship 2010, which will be held from August 11 to 22 at Munich, Germany.

ISLAMABAD-Pakistan green fluttering will be waving among the other 69 nations of the world when green shirts will be featuring in the World Bowling Championship 2010, which will be held from August 11 to 22 at Munich, Germany.

  The Bowling World Cup 2010 will be staged at Dream-Bowl Palace, a state-of-the-art 52-laner in Unterfohring, a suburb of the city of Munich, close to Munich International Airport. Dream-Bowl Palace is the biggest bowling centre in Europe and opened its doors on December 15th, 2009.

  Over 380 players from 69 different countries will compete for the gold, silver and bronze medals in Singles, Doubles, Trios, Team, All-Events and Masters disciplines from August 11 to 22 this year 2010. However, Organizing Committee has closed the entry for the mega bowling competition of the world. Pakistani bowlers will contest in the single and double event of the championship.

  The international bowlers from Australia, Austria, Bahamas, Belarus, Belgium, Brazil, Bulgaria, Canada, Catalonia, China, Chinese Taipei, Colombia, Costa Rica, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Egypt, England, Estonia, Finland, France, Gibraltar, Greece, Guatemala, Hong Kong, Hungary, Iceland, Indonesia, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Korea, Kuwait, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Macau, Malaysia, Mexico, Moldova, Mongolia, Netherlands, New Zealand, Northern Ireland, Norway, Pakistan, Philippines, Poland, Puerto Rico, Romania, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Scotland, Serbia, Singapore, Slovakia, Slovenia, Sweden, Switzerland, Thailand, Ukraine, United Arabs Emirates (UAE), United States, Uzbekistan, Venezuela, Wales, and the host Germany will show their muscles during the 11-day prestigious international bowling event of the world.

ISLAMABAD, July 6 (PTBF News): Over 300 players, including 25 women will participate in the second Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Shaheed Ten-Pin Bowling Championship to be held at the Mega Zone Bowling Club of F-9 Park Islamabad, said President Pakistan Ten-Pin Bowling Federation Muhammad Shujah KHan on Tuesday. Talking to media-persons at Pakistan Sports Complex he said that the preparations for the championship were at full swing. “Our effort will be to make the event memorable,” The general secretary Ijaz Ur Rehman brief the details of the said Championship and he said that Pakistan Tenpin Bowling Federation has played a vital role in promoting tenpin bowling sport at national level as well as International.
There will be seven categories i.e. professional singles, professional doubles, inter-city, deaf singles, inter-travel agency, inter-telecom companies and media singles.
The prize money for professional singles will be one lakh ninety two thousand, for professional doubles sixty thousand, for inter-city thirty thousand, for deaf singles nine thousand five hundred and for media seventeen thousand five hundred.
However he said that trophies and certificates will also be rewarded to the winners.

Muhammad Shuja Khan is Elected New President of PTBF.

Muhammad Shuja Khan; The Minister for Food, Khyber Pakhtoon khawah has unanimously been elected as President of Pakistan Tenpin Bowling Federation (PTBF) in Islamabad on 25th June 2010 The former president M. Anwer Baig has shown his in availability due to time constraints and resigned the post, consequent upon that new election was held on 25th June 2010 and Mr. Muhammad Shuja Khan was unanimously elected as The President.
PTBF, during the meeting of the managing committee of PTBF expressed his full support and cooperation to the newly elected President and anticipated that the newly elected President should work for the better promotion and development of Bowling in Pakistan.

Speaking at the occasion, General Secretary PTBF Mr. Ijaz Ur Rehman welcomed the new President and said that under the patronage and guidance of Muhammad Shuja Khan, the sport of bowling shall flourish and grow in positive direction, he also emphasized the need of better promotion of this sport through formation of local, provincial and international coordination committees which could groom and nurture the fresh talent in this sport.

Mr.Muhammad Shuja Khan, at this occasion extended his kind consent to become the new President and conveyed his gratitude to the Managing committee for electing him. He assured the members of his full support and patronage for this sport emphasizing upon the need of re structuring of administrative coordination committees for a better operation. Mr. Shuja Khan has also announced to hold 2nd Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Shaheed Tenpin Bowling Championship in July 2010. The new president has emphasized to arrange workshop with media people and sports journalist to keep all quarters in line with this sports and its progress in Pakistan. The new President of PTBF and the members of managing committee shall also hold a joint press conference on in which further details of PTBF’s operations and future plans shall be unveiled.

Sindh Games Logo_Sindh Tenpin Bowling Association (STBA) proudly announces that speedily growing Tenpin Bowling Sport has been officially inducted in 13th Sindh Games 2010 by Worthy Sindh Sports Board under STBA management. This would be the officially ranking tournament from 14-16 June 2010 where bowlers will prove their metal for the first time.

We are grateful to Sindh Sports Board Authorities, with special thanks to Mr. Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui, Secretary Sports and Youth Affairs, and Mr Hanif Muhammad Merchawala, Director Sports & Youth Affairs as their efforts for development and love to sports has enabled us to enjoy this occasion.  

 Romis Ali, General Secretary  Said" STBA has been working for development of bowling sport in Sindh as well as in the country since 2004. Ijaz Ur Rehman is the 4th Islamabad Tenpin Bowling Champion.

Ijaz Ur Rehman beat Sajid Mehmood in the finals of 4th Islamabad Tenpin Bowling Championship 2010 and became 4th Islamabad tenpin Bowling Champion. Ijaz scorred a total of 364 points against Sajid’s 355 in the final games. The event was played on 21st March 2010 here in Islamabad. The championship was participated by all the veteran and young bowlers from Islamabad and Rawalpindi. Saqib claimed third position by demonstrating a very improved game, while Sajid Mehmood made tough challenge for ijaz Ur Rehman in the finals.

In this event an over all number of 56 bowlers participated out of which 16 bowlers were shortlisted on the basis of average scores who played the final rounds. Senior bowlers like M. saleem Baig, Khalid Butt who also became the highest scorer in the event by scorring a highest total of 23e3 in a single game. However the senior bowlers faced tough competition from young bowlers and overall a good atmosphere of competition was created.

Winners were awarded trophies and cash prizes by General secretary Islamabad Bowling Association Saifullah Qureshi was the chief guest at the occasion. Speaking at the occasion he stated that this annual event is organized to groom the fresh talent in competitive environment with the senior tenpin bowlers to strengthen the confidence of the new comers, simultaneously to give them a chance to prove their skills with the senior bowlers, this event would also help to prepare the Islamabad bowlers for many upcoming national and international events.

Tenpin Bowling Granted registered Status, Mir Ijaz Hussain Jakhrani, Federal Minister for Sports.


Tenpin Bowling Granted registered Status, Government shall promote and patronize Tenpin Bowling in Pakistan; Mir Ijaz Hussain Jakhrani, Federal Minister for Sports.

Government shall patronize and support the promotion of Tenpin Bowling in the country, while all steps shall be taken to provide international standard gaming facilities for tenpin bowlers in Pakistan, this was stated by Mir Ijaz Hussain Jakhrani, Federal Minister for Sports in a meeting with a delegation of Pakistan Tenpin Bowling Federation (PTBF) here in Islamabad. The delegation lead by Senator (R) M. Enver Baig, President, PTBF, met the federal sports minister to brief about the present status of tenpin bowling the country and the measures that PTBF had taken to promote this sport in the country. Also present at the occasion were Mr. Nasir Munir, Sr. Vice President PTBF and Mr. Ijaz Ur Rehman, General Secretary PTBF.

Federal Minister was briefed thoroughly about the on going activities of PTBF and its preparations to send Pakistan’s team in various international events, federal Minister at this occasion assured the delegation of his full support and cooperation and stated that Government draws a keen interest in the promotion of sports in the country and shall properly promote this sport which is being played in more then 120 countries internationally. Mr. Jakhrani also expressed his deep interest in establishment of more bowling centers all across the country so that the sport could be enjoyed by youth at all levels. He also approved the much awaited registration / affiliation of tenpin bowling federation and granted the body the status of Registered Federation for tenpin bowling in the country. It may be recalled here that Pakistan Olympic Association has already approved PTBF as its affiliated federation for Tenpin Bowling in Pakistan.

Senator (R) Biag thanked the federal Minister for his interest in this sport and assured him that the federation, with the assistance of Ministry of Sports, shall produce world class tenpin bowling players in the country who shall not only represent the country internationally but would also bring back the lost glory in the world of sports for Pakistan.

Bowling in Pakistan to Excel, No Lack of Talent and Resources.

The much neglected sport of bowling in Pakistan shall excel as there is no lack of talent in this game, we have the players of international level, like other sports of squash, hockey and cricket, tenpin bowling shall also represent the country at national and international level. This was stated by President Pakistan Tenpin Bowling Federation, Senator M. Enver Baig, who was addressing a joint press conference along with Vice President PTBF Nasir Munir & General Secretary Ijaz Ur Rehman on Monday at Pakistan Sports Board.

During the Press Conference, Sen. Enver Baig Praised the efforts of PTBF who in its limited sources not only represented the country at 45th Tenpin Bowling World Cup held in Malaysia last year but the participating player from Pakistan Ijaz Ur Rehman also finished as tenth highest scorer of the event. Reiterating his support in all form for the sport Sen. Baig declared that from year 2010 a new international annual bowling event named “Pakistan Open Tenpin Bowling Championship” shall be inaugurated for national and international players. He emphasized upon the private sector to come forward for the support of this sport by sponsoring various events of the federation, he was optimistic about the Government’s support for the promotion of bowling through allocation of land and assistance for the import of bowling equipment so that our youth could engage in a healthy activity simultaneously fresh talent could also be groomed. Sen. Baig also announced the setup of national bowling training academy for which he was hopeful to receive governments support.

Ijaz Ur Rehman, General Secretary, PTBF speaking at the occasion thanked Sen. Enver Baig for becoming the President of PTBF and expected that under his patronage and guidance the sport of bowling shall flourish, Ijaz also narrated his experience of representing the country at World Cup and stated that it was an honour to play for the homeland. He stated that through proper coaching and provision of facilities Pakistani players were able to win international events. Ijaz also announced that PTBF shall hold a joint workshop with RISJA (Rawalpindi-Islamabad Sports Journalist Association) for creating awareness about this sport at national level.

Mr. Nasir Munir, vice president, PTBF thanked all the press & media for their support and patronage for bowling and expected that media shall play its role in making this sport popular among the youth of Pakistan. He empathized upon the setup of professionally managed bowling alleys in the major cities of Pakistan where international gaming facilities could be made available. He was of the view that PTBF shall not only safeguard the interest of bowlers in Pakistan but would also help and assist the bowling alley owners in all technical forms for proper maintenance and equipment enhancement if required by them.

Afzal Akhtar Wins 1st IBA- Amateur Monthly Bowling Championship

Afzal Akhtar of Islamabad won the First IBA- Amateur Monthly Bowling Championship by beating Ahmed Taufique in the finals of Islamabad Bowling Association Amateur Monthly Bowling Championship which were played in local bowling alley on 17th January 2010. This is the unique monthly event which has been organized by Islamabad Bowling Association in order to take practical measures for the promotion and support of Bowling in the city.
In this event an over all number of 38 bowlers participated out of which 12 bowlers were shortlisted on the basis of average scores. In the final of this event the top favorite Ahmed Taufique faced a professional challenge from the new comer Afzal Akhtar who in spite of losing the first game came back in a challenging manner in the second game and availed a victory lead of 10 points upon Ahmed Taufique in final game.
President Islamabad Bowling Association Mr. Ijaz Ur Rehman was the chief guest at the prize distribution ceremony. Speaking at the occasion he said that identification, grooming and encouragement of fresh talent in the bowling was the sole purpose behind such event which shall take place on regular basis every month.
He highlighted the role of IBA in the promotion of bowling in the city and said that the through the efforts of IBA fresh talent can represent the country upon national and international level, he appreciated the skills of new comers and assured them of complete support and training facilities through professional bowlers. In the end the winner and the runner up contestants were awarded cash prizes and trophies.
