Background

It is not quite very old that tenpin bowling was introduced in Pakistan. Soon after the sport gained popularity among the masses, more and more centers came up where serious minded players got a chance to improve their skill with regular practice. Hence a need of a proper regulatory body was felt which could not only promote this sport in the country but could also provide the chance for Pakistani bowlers to represent the country on national and international level.

PTBF is aimed to establish a close relationship with Bowling Associations of other countries thus enabling players to earn chances to play Internationally. Asian Bowling Federation has responded favorably and taking keen interest in our work for promotion of bowling in Pakistan.

Efforts are in are in hands to get PTBF affiliated with relevant International Forums that will not only give boost the promotion of Bowling sport but also generate opportunities to polish skills of leading players of Pakistan. Affiliation of PTBF with International Association (WTBA) has played a vital role in enhancing the interest amongst the players and playing its dividend to promote Bowling in Pakistan

First Meeting

Keeping in mind the need of a proper organization for promotion of bowling in Pakistan, large numbers of players and bowling lover gather for first time to discuss the issues on 25 Feb 1999. The credit of this revolutionary initiative goes to a group of committed friends namely, Ijaz-ur-Rehman and Saeed Alam there efforts remained successful in shape of PTBF, the attractive sporty gift to Pakistan.

Establishment of different Associations

Different educational institutes and professional players were contacted and ask to make the bowling teams. PTBF also provided free coaching to encourage fresh players and data of professional player was also compiled. As a result of hectic efforts a sizeable numbers of teams were established in Pakistan i.e. Islamabad Bowling Association. Sind Bowling Association, Khyber Puktoonkhwawa bowling Association, Punjab bowling Association and Balouchistan bowling Association.

Establishment of PTBF

After developing number of teams at educational institutions and professional clubs in various cities of Pakistan, PTBF was then formally formed to play its role in enforcing the sport regulations and providing National Platform. The players and club members from around the country gathered at Pakistan Sport Board to elect worthy office bearers of newly born Federation during a meeting held during 2004. Pakistan Tenpin Bowling Federation first formal meeting was held in Islamabad Club on Wednesday, 15th of September 2004

Activities

PTBF supervises various events taking place all across the country, in addition, PTBF also holds its regular calendar events including monthly bowling leagues, which are popularly participated including monthly Bowling Tournaments is a regular feature of PTBF. Coaching, training, access of local players towards international events, fitness and enforcement of international tenpin rules for the bowlers and center operators are the key responsibilities of PTBF. Some events are regularly held on monthly basis since February 1999. PTBF also holds the distinction to invite significant social and public personalities as chief guests in their events so that tenpin bowling may receive the due attention and appreciation which it deserves in the country. Following are some events and attributes which PTBF manages, supervises and organizes under its premises regularly.
